Sunday Matinees at the Museum: Beauty and the Beast

Sunday, June 21 in Omaha

Explore our summer exhibition, Heroes & Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume, then watch those same costumes come to life in the museum's very own theater. Bring the kids to see an epic blockbuster back on the big screen. Enjoy popcorn and snacks from our old-fashioned Soda Fountain, as well.

What to expect

This Durham Museum program connects the exhibition experience with the film that inspired some of its featured costume work. Heroes & Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume, curated by the Walt Disney Archives, showcases nearly 70 ensembles from Disney film and television, including original film-worn costumes from live-action stories. After exploring the exhibition, visitors can settle in for Beauty and the Beast on the big screen, with concessions available from the Soda Fountain.

Why go

For families, Disney fans, and anyone interested in costume design, Sunday Matinees at the Museum: Beauty and the Beast offers two related experiences in one Omaha museum visit: a close look at the craft behind Disney characters and a chance to see those designs in motion. The format makes the exhibition more accessible for kids while giving film and fashion fans a clearer view of how costumes help shape character, mood, and storytelling.
