Death Becomes Her

Wednesday, October 28 at Orpheum Theater, Omaha

Orpheum Theater · Old Market $44.50

About this event

Actress Madeline Ashton and her best frenemy Helen Sharp will do anything to stay fabulous. When the mysterious Viola Van Horn offers them a secret potion, their rivalry takes a deadly funny turn. Based on the 1992 film, Death Becomes Her is a Tony Award-winning musical comedy about beauty, ambition and immortality.

Who's playing

This is the touring production of the Broadway hit, directed and choreographed by Tony winner Christopher Gattelli. The book is by Marco Pennette, with music and lyrics by Julia Mattison and Noel Carey. The tour's announced principals include Betsy Wolfe as Madeline, Jennifer Simard as Helen and Christopher Sieber as Ernest. Casts on tour can change.

What to expect

A big, campy dark comedy about beauty, ambition and immortality. Viola Van Horn's potion keeps Madeline and Helen alive, and the rivalry turns gory and absurd. The show runs about two and a half hours with one intermission. It plays as a mature comedy, with suggestive humor and some strong language.

Why go

The Orpheum is a 1927 former vaudeville house with about 2,600 seats and an ornate, gilded look. It suits a large, glossy Broadway tour. The show was a major Broadway success and won the 2025 Broadway.com Audience Choice Award for Favorite New Musical. It makes a good date night or a night out with friends downtown.
