Vita begins the story unsure why her family is preparing a celebration for loved ones who have died. When a spirited candy skeleton named Sugar Skull comes to life, she is swept into a musical adventure that introduces her to ancient ancestors, a sorrowful sorceress, the trickster Chaneques and Catrina Calavera as she searches for the meaning of Día de Muertos and the missing pieces for her family ofrenda.
