Sunday Matinees at the Museum: Maleficent
Sunday, October 11 in Omaha
About this event
Explore our summer exhibition, Heroes & Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume, then watch those same costumes come to life in the museum's very own theater. Bring the kids to see an epic blockbuster back on the big screen. Enjoy popcorn and snacks from our old-fashioned Soda Fountain.
Who's playing
The featured presentation is Maleficent, Disney’s 2014 live-action film, shown as part of The Durham Museum’s Sunday Matinees at the Museum series in Omaha. The screening connects directly to Heroes & Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume, the museum exhibition featuring film-worn Disney costumes, including Maleficent among its heroes, villains and antiheroes.
What to expect
Plan on a family-friendly museum-and-movie pairing: first, time with Heroes & Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume, then a theater screening that brings the exhibition’s Disney characters back to the big screen. The Durham Museum also notes popcorn and snacks from its old-fashioned Soda Fountain as part of the matinee experience.
Why go
This is a good fit for families, Disney fans and costume-design enthusiasts who want the exhibition and the film to inform each other. Seeing the craftsmanship of Disney costumes up close before watching Maleficent gives the movie a different lens, especially for visitors interested in how character, clothing and performance work together.
