Who's playing
The cast and crew come from UNO's theatre program. Dr. JM Christiansen directs, Drew Firkins is the music director, and Julian Adair choreographs. The program is part of the College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media, and its students also work with Omaha's wider theatre community.
What to expect
A classic musical comedy about romance, with songs by Bock and Harnick. It plays in the Weber Black Box Theatre, on the basement level of the building. The room's seating can be rearranged into thrust, in-the-round or other layouts, and three balcony levels surround the stage. That makes for a close, flexible space for a musical.
Why go
Student-built musicals are a chance to see a well-loved show up close at a modest price, and the Weber building is a landmark on the UNO campus. It was designed as an "inhabited sculpture," with towers and a long curving spine. The matinees and the family-friendly tone make it workable for a mixed group.
