About this event
This event is free PARKING: There is open parking after 7PM (no permit required) across the Dodge Campus, including all surface lots and the East and West Garage. Click here for more details including a campus map. Please see "Event Website" for livestream.
Who's playing
Dr. Season Cowley is Instructor of Clarinet at UNO, which they joined in 2023, and Principal Clarinet of the Hastings Symphony Orchestra. They have performed at ClarinetFest and at national conferences, often with ppp Trio. Cowley has commissioned and premiered works by Eric Mandat and Krista Vázquez-Connelly. They also won first prize at the 2023 Charleston International 20th Century Music Competition.
What to expect
A faculty recital is a concert-style program played by the teacher rather than the students. Cowley's past programs have mixed contemporary pieces with established works for clarinet. Expect a listening-focused evening in a campus music venue, and sometimes a few words from the stage about the pieces. The School of Music also offers a livestream for anyone who can't attend.
Why go
Cowley's repertoire includes new and recent music that is rarely played live in Omaha. It is also a chance to hear a working specialist play the instrument they teach. UNO students, alumni and neighbors can all hear what the School of Music faculty does on stage.
