Who's playing
The players are the UNO orchestra, made up of university music students. The School of Music hosts a steady run of ensemble nights at Strauss, including choirs, wind ensembles and jazz bands. The orchestra is one of those groups. The listing does not name a program or guest soloists.
What to expect
A full orchestra concert in the Jan and John Christensen Concert Hall, the main room at Strauss, which was renovated in recent years. These are campus concerts, so the crowd mixes students, families, faculty and neighbors. The pay-what-you-wish approach keeps the evening casual and open to anyone curious about live orchestral music.
Why go
It is a chance to hear live orchestral music in a proper concert hall in Omaha at little or no cost. You also see where the next generation of local musicians is headed. The livestream option helps if you can't make it to campus.
